Question of Aqai … from head office of Al- Monji

One of the Dua in the book “Sahifa e MAhadiyah” named as the “Other Dua e Ahad” which starts with this quotation “اللهم يا إله الالهة ...

Question: What does “اللهم يا إله الالهة ...” means?
Is not this “يا إله الالهة” testifies that there are multiple Gods and proves the existence of Gods other than Allah (SWT)?

As you know, during the course of the time there were many who claimed to be Gods, like Fir’aun, Namrood, Shaddad etc… and many were the Idols, which were worshiped by a group of men and likewise there were men who worshipped things other than Idols. Is there any other God of these fabricated Gods, other than Allah (SWT)?
Is not Allah (SWT) the God of all?
Believing in multiple Gods is not polytheism or blasphemy. However, believing in their rightfulness is.
This Dua only proves that there are several Gods but not that they are the true Gods, and it is a truth in which all monotheist believe.

The purpose of this quotation over here is just to prove that there are several Gods but not in the sense of the true God, and in this Dua it means the oneness of Allah (SWT). Defining God as «بالوحدانية الکبري» is a proof for the oneness of the God. The purpose of it «اله الالهة» is due to this «بالوحدانية الکبري» reason and it does not justify the rightfulness of all those fabricated Gods. However, it means that Allah is the God of everything and everyone even for all those fabricated Gods.

It is a truth, which has been mentioned in the ayahs and the traditions. Is there anyone else except Allah (SWT) who created Namrood, Shaddad and other false Gods?

It is interesting to know that in this dua, not once but through several phrases and words, the oneness of Allah (SWT) has been mentioned.

1 - يا واحد

2 - يا احد

3 - يا من قدر فلطف، اشکو اليک ضعفي وما قصر عنه عملي من توحيدک...

4 - وأتوجّه اليک بالتسمية البيضاء وبالوحدانية الکبري التي قصر عنها من أدبر وتولّي.

5 - يا من أتحفني بالإقرار بالوحدانية.

Apart from these, there are several other phrases in this Dua, which proves the oneness of Allah (SWT) and prohibits the practice of polytheism.

It will be fascinating to know that this quote “«يا اله الالهة»” has been mentioned in other Duas as well. For example:

These phrases does exist in several Duas and in many Dua books. Our great Shia scholars such as deceased Sheikh Toosi, Syed ibn Ta’oos Allama Majlisi and others have mentioned these in their books.

Therefore addressing Allah (SWT) with “« إله الالهة»” does not in any way conflicts «لا إله إلا الله»

In the same way as it has been mentioned in the Dua of the twenty-ninth day of every month as “... لا إله إلا الله إله الالهة”. (Behar ul-Anwaar: 97/222)

Thus, it « إله الالهة» is an emphasis on«لا إله إلا الله»and does not have any conflict with it.
It is worthwhile to mention that the “Other Dua e Ahad” is the second dua on the page 337 in the sixth chapter of the book “Sahifa e MAhadiyah”
