SUPPLICATION ON THE DAY OF EID-UL-FITR

NARRATED FROM MOHAMMAD BIN OTHMAN (R.A.)

Our master, Mohammad bin Othman (R.A.) used to recite this supplication; and it was present in his note book wherein he had also noted the supplications of the month of Ramadan.

            This supplication should be recited after the Morning Prayer on Eid-ul-Fitr:

أَللَّهُمَّ إِنّي تَوَجَّهْتُ إِلَيْكَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ أَمامي ، وَعَلِيٍّ مِنْ خَلْفي وَعَنْ يَميني وَأَئِمَّتي عَنْ يَساري ، أَسْتَتِرُ بِهِمْ مِنْ عَذابِكَ ، وَأَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيْكَ زُلْفى لا أَجِدُ أَحَداً أَقْرَبَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْهُمْ ، فَهُمْ أَئِمَّتي ، فَآمِنْ بِهِمْ خَوْفي مِنْ عِقابِكَ وَسَخَطِكَ ، وَأَدْخِلْني بِرَحْمَتِكَ في عِبادِكَ الصَّالِحينَ .

    أَصْبَحْتُ بِاللَّهِ مُؤْمِناً مُخْلِصاً عَلى دينِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَسُنَّتِهِ ، وَعَلى دينِ عَلِيٍّ وَسُنَّتِهِ ، وَعَلى دينِ الْأَوْصِياءِ وَسُنَّتِهِمْ ، آمَنْتُ بِسِرِّهِمْ وَعَلانِيَتِهِمْ ، وَأَرغَبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ تَعالى فيما رَغِبَ فيهِ إِلَيْهِ مُحَمَّدٌ وَعَلِيٌّ وَالْأَوْصِياءُ .

    وَأَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا اسْتَعاذُوا مِنْهُ ، وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلّا بِاللَّهِ ، وَلا عِزَّةَ وَلا مَنْعَةَ وَلا سُلْطانَ إِلّا للَّهِِ الْواحِدِ الْقَهَّارِ الْعَزيزِ الْجَبَّارِ الْمُتَكَبِّرِ ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ  «فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بالِغُ أَمْرِهِ» .

    أَللَّهُمَّ إِنّي اُريدُكَ فَأَرِدْني ، وَأَطْلُبُ ما عِنْدَكَ فَيَسِّرْهُ لي ، وَاقْضِ لي حَوائِجي فَإِنَّكَ قُلْتَ في كِتابِكَ وَقَوْلُكَ الْحَقُّ « شَهْرُ رَمَضانَ الَّذي اُنْزِلَ فيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى لِلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّناتٍ مِنَ الْهُدى وَالْفُرْقانِ » ، فَعَظَّمْتَ حُرْمَةَ شَهْرِ رَمَضانَ ، بِما أَنْزَلْتَ فيهِ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ ، وَخَصَّصْتَهُ وَعَظَّمْتَهُ بِتَصْييرِكَ فيهِ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ ، فَقُلْتَ « لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ × تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فيها بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْ مِنْ كُلِّ أَمْرٍ × سَلامٌ هِيَ حَتَّى مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ» .

    أَللَّهُمَّ وَهذِهِ أَيَّامُ شَهْرِ رَمَضانَ قَدِ انْقَضَتْ ، وَلَياليهِ قَدْ تَصَرَّمَتْ ، وَقَدْ صِرْتُ مِنْهُ يا إِلهي إِلى ما أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنّي ، وَأَحْصى لِعَدَدِهِ مِنْ عَدَدي ، فَأَسْأَلُكَ يا إِلهي بِما سَأَلَكَ بِهِ عِبادُكَ الصَّالِحُونَ ، أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلى أَهْلِ بَيْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ .

    وَأَنْ تَتَقَبَّلَ مِنّي كُلَّما تَقَرَّبْتُ بِهِ إِلَيْكَ ، وَتَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيَّ بِتَضْعيفِ عَمَلي ، وَقَبُولِ تَقَرُّبي وَقُرُباتي ، وَاسْتِجابَةِ دُعائي ، وَهَبْ لي مِنْكَ عِتْقَ رَقَبَتي مِنَ النَّارِ ، وَمُنَّ عَلَيَّ بِالْفَوْزِ بِالْجَنَّةِ وَالْأَمْنِ يَوْمَ الْخَوْفِ مِنْ كُلِّ فَزَ عٍ ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ هَوْلٍ أَعْدَدْتَهُ لِيَوْمِ الْقِيامَةِ .

    أَعُوذُ بِحُرْمَةِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ ، وَبِحُرْمَةِ نَبِيِّكَ وَحُرْمَةِ الصَّالِحينَ ، أَنْ يَنْصَرِمَ هذَا الْيَوْمِ ، وَلَكَ قِبَلي تَبِعَةٌ تُريدُ أَنْ تُؤاخِذَني بِها ، أَوْ ذَنْبٌ تُريدُ أَنْ تُقايِسَني بِهِ ، وَتُشْقِيَني وَتَفْضَحَني بِهِ ، أَوْ خَطيئَةٌ تُريدُ أَنْ تُقايِسَني بِها وَتَقْتَصَّها مِنّي لَمْ تَغْفِرْها لي ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِحُرْمَةِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ الْفَعَّالِ لِما يُريدُ ، اَلَّذي يَقُولُ لِلشَّيْ‏ءِ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ ، لا إِلهَ إِلّا هُوَ .

    أَللَّهُمَّ إِنّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِلا إِلهَ إِلّا أَنْتَ ، إِنْ كُنْتَ رَضيتَ عَنّي في هذَا الشَّهْرِ أَنْ تَزيدَني فيما بَقِيَ مِنْ عُمْري رِضاً ، فَإِنْ كُنْتَ لَمْ تَرْضَ عَنّي في هذَا الشَّهْرِ ، فَمِنَ الْآنَ فَارْضَ عَنِّي السَّاعَةَ السَّاعَةَ السَّاعَةَ ، وَاجْعَلْني في هذِهِ السَّاعَةِ وَفي هذَا الْمَجْلِسِ مِنْ عُتَقائِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ ، وَطُلَقائِكَ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ ، وَسُعَداءِ خَلْقِكَ بِمَغْفِرَتِكَ وَرَحْمَتِكَ يا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمينَ .

    أَللَّهُمَّ إِنّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِحُرْمَةِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ ، أَنْ تَجْعَلَ شَهْري هذا خَيْرَ شَهْرِ رَمَضانَ عَبَدْتُكَ فيهِ ، وَصُمْتُهُ لَكَ ، وَتَقَرَّبْتُ بِهِ إِلَيْكَ مُنْذُ أَسْكَنْتَني فيهِ ، أَعْظَمَهُ أَجْراً ، وَأَتَمَّهُ نِعْمَةً ، وَأَعَمَّهُ عافِيَةً ، وَأَوْسَعَهُ رِزْقاً ، وَأَفْضَلَهُ عِتْقاً مِنَ النَّارِ ، وَأَوْجَبَهُ رَحْمَةً ، وَأَعْظَمَهُ مَغْفِرَةً ، وَأَكْمَلَهُ رِضْواناً ، وَأَقْرَبَهُ إِلى ما تُحِبُّ وَتَرْضى .

    أَللَّهُمَّ لاتَجْعَلْهُ آخِرَ شَهْرِ رَمَضانَ صُمْتُهُ لَكَ ، وَارْزُقْنِي الْعَوْدَ ثُمَّ الْعَوْدَ حَتَّى تَرْضى وَبَعْدَ الرِّضا ، وَحَتَّى تُخْرِجَني مِنَ الدُّنْيا سالِماً وَأَنْتَ عَنّي راضٍ وَأَنَا لَكَ مَرْضِيٌّ .

    أَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فيما تَقْضي وَتُقَدِّرُ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ الْمَحْتُومِ الَّذي لايُرَدُّ وَلايُبَدَّلُ أَنْ تَجْعَلَني مِمَّنْ تُثيبُ وَتُسَمّي وَتَقْضي لَهُ ، وَتَزيدُ وَتُحِبُّ لَهُ وَتَرْضى ، وَأَنْ تَكْتُبَني مِنْ حُجَّاجِ بَيْتِكَ الْحَرامِ في هذَا الْعامِ ، وَفي كُلِّ عامٍ ، اَلْمَبْرُورِ حَجُّهُمْ ، اَلمَشْكُورِ سَعْيُهُمْ ، اَلْمَغْفُورِ ذُنُوبُهُمْ ، اَلْمُتَقَبَّلِ مِنْهُمْ مَناسِكُهُمْ ، اَلْمُعافينَ عَلى أَسْفارِهِمْ ، اَلْمُقْبِلينَ عَلى نُسُكِهِمْ ، اَلْمَحْفُوظينَ في أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَأَمْوالِهِمْ وَذَراريهِمْ ، وَكُلِّ ما أَنْعَمْتَ بِهِ عَلَيْهِمْ.

    أَللَّهُمَّ اقْلِبْني مِنْ مَجْلِسي هذا ، في شَهْري هذا ، في يَوْمي هذا ، في ساعَتي هذِهِ ، مُفْلِحاً مُنْجِحاً مُسْتَجاباً لي ، مَغْفُوراً ذَنْبي ، مُعافاً مِنَ النَّارِ ، وَمُعْتَقاً مِنْها عِتْقاً لا رِقَّ بَعْدَهُ أَبَداً ، وَلا رَهْبَةَ يا رَبَّ الْأَرْبابِ .

    أَللَّهُمَّ إِنّي أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ فيما شِئْتَ ، وأَرَدْتَ وَقَضَيْتَ وَقَدَّرْتَ وَحَتَمْتَ وَأَنْفَذْتَ أَنْ تُطيلَ عُمْري ، وَأَنْ تُنْسِئَ في أَجَلي ، وَأَنْ تُقَوِّيَ ضَعْفي ، وَأَنْ تُغْنِيَ فَقْري ، وَأَنْ تَجْبُرَ فاقَتي ، وَأَنْ تَرْحَمَ مَسْكَنَتي ، وَأَنْ تُعِزَّ ذُلّي ، وَأَنْ تَرْفَعَ ضَعَتي ، وَأَنْ تُغْنِيَ عائِلَتي ، وَأَنْ تُؤْنِسَ وَحْشَتي ، وَأَنْ تُكْثِرَ قِلَّتي ، وأَنْ تُدِرَّ رِزْقي في عافِيَةٍ وَيُسْرٍ وَخَفْضٍ .

    وَأَنْ تَكْفِيَني ما أَهَمَّني مِنْ أَمْرِ دُنْيايَ وَآخِرَتي ، وَلاتَكِلَني إِلى نَفْسي فَأَعْجِزَ عَنْها ، وَلا إِلَى النَّاسِ فَيَرْفِضُوني ، وَأَنْ تُعافِيَني في ديني وَبَدَني وَجَسَدي وَرُوحي وَوُلْدي وَأَهْلي وَأَهْلِ مَوَدَّتي وَ إِخْواني وَجيراني مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنينَ وَالْمُؤْمِناتِ وَالْمُسْلِمينَ وَالْمُسْلِماتِ ، اَلْأَحْياءِ مِنْهُمْ وَالْأَمْواتِ ، وَأَنْ تَمُنَّ عَلَيَّ بِالْأَمْنِ وَالْإيمانِ ما أَبْقَيْتَني ، فَإِنَّكَ وَلِيّي وَمَوْلايَ ، وَثِقَتي وَرَجائي ، وَمَعْدِنُ مَسْأَلَتي ، وَمَوْضِعُ شَكْوايَ ، وَمُنْتَهى رَغْبَتي .

    فَلاتُخَيِّبْني في رَجائي يا سَيِّدي وَمَوْلايَ، وَلاتُبْطِلْ طَمَعي وَرَجائي، فَقَدْ تَوَجَّهْتُ إِلَيْكَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَقَدَّمْتُهُمْ إِلَيْكَ أَمامي ، وَأَمامَ حاجَتي وَطَلِبَتي ، وَتَضَرُّعي وَمَسْأَلَتي ، فَاجْعَلْني بِهِمْ وَجيهاً فِي الدُّنْيا  وَالْآخِرَةِ وَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبينَ ، فَإِنَّكَ مَنَنْتَ عَلَيَّ بِمَعْرِفَتِهِمْ ، فَاخْتِمْ لي بِهِمُ السَّعادَةَ إِنَّكَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْ‏ءٍ قَديرٌ .

            O’ Allah, indeed I turn towards You by the means of Mohammad who is in front of me, and Ali who is behind me and towards my right, and my Imams towards my left, I hide myself through them from Your Punishment, and I seek nearness towards You, a nearness where I do not find anyone but them, they are my Imams, thus eliminate my fear through them from Your punishment and anger, and enter me through Your Mercy in the group of Your noble servants. I have seen the morning while I have faith in Allah, with pure intention, upon the religion of Mohammad and his tradition, and upon the religion of Ali and his tradition, and upon the religion of their successors and their traditions, I have faith in their secrets and their apparent, and I desire Allah Almighty for those things which Mohammad and Ali and their successors desire, and I seek refuge in Allah from the evil of what they seek refuge from, and there is no movement nor any Power except Allah, and there isn’t any dignity nor stoppage nor Dominion except for Allah, the One, the Dominant, the Dignified, the Powerful, the Arrogant, I rely upon Allah (and He is sufficient for him, indeed Allah will accomplish His purpose)^[1]. O’ Allah, indeed I intend You, thus intend me; and I demand what is near You, so make it easy for me, and fulfil my demands for me; indeed You have said in Your book and Your Speech is Truth (The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion)^[2], thus You honoured the sanctity of the month of Ramadan, because You revealed Qur’an in it, and made it exclusive and honoured it by placing the Night of Qadr in it, as You said (The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months, The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter, Peace it is until the emergence of dawn)^[3]. O’ Allah, these days of the month of Ramadan have ended, and its nights have also ended, and You know better, O’ Allah, what I have done in this month, and know its number better than me, thus I ask You, O’ Allah, for that which Your noble servants ask You for, to bless Mohammad and the Progeny of Mohammad and the household of Mohammad, and to accept from me all the means I chose for Your nearness, and by multiplying my deeds several times and by accepting my actions intended for Your nearness, and by accomplishing my supplication, and grant me from Your vicinity the freedom of my neck from the Hellfire, and favour upon me by placing me in Heaven and by saving me from the fear of the day of fear, and from all terrors and astonishments that You have prepared for the Day of Judgment. I seek refuge in the sanctity of Your kind self, and in the sanctity of Your Prophet and the sanctity of the noblemen, that this day doesn’t pass without You forgiving me of a crime You were to punish me for, or a sin You were to penalize me for, or from regarding me ill-fortuned and disgraced, or from a mistake You were to punish me for. And I ask You for the sake of the sanctity of Your kind self, the All-doer of what He wishes, Who when says to something, ‘Be’ and it ‘Happens’, there is no God but He. O’ Allah, indeed I ask You for the sake of the declaration ‘there is no God but You’, if You are pleased with me in this month, then increase Your Pleasure and Satisfaction with me for the rest of my life, and if You weren’t pleased with me in this month, then be pleased with me, this hour, this hour, this hour, and regard me in this hour and in this sitting among those who are freed from Fire, and are released from Hell, and among Your servants who will be prosperous through Your forgiveness and Mercy, O’ the most Merciful of the merciful ones. O’ Allah, indeed I ask You for the sake of the sanctity of Your kind existence, to regard this month as the best month of Ramadan in which I have worshipped You, and have kept fast for You, and sought Your nearness since You have placed me in it, the best in reward, and the completest in bounties, and the most extensive in well-being, and the most vast in sustenance, and the best for freedom from fire, and the most worthy for Mercy, and the greatest in forgiveness, and the most perfect in Your satisfaction, and the nearest towards what You love and are pleased with. O’ Allah,  do not regard this the last month of Ramadan in which I have kept fast for You, and grant me return and return again until You are pleased and after the Satisfaction, return me until You take me from this world safely, while You are pleased with me and I am also the pleased one. O’ Allah, regard in what You make destined, from the definite affair that cannot be rejected or altered, to regard me among those who are rewarded, and whose status is raised, and whose demand is fulfilled, and You increase for him, and love him, and are pleased with him, and regard me among the pilgrims of Your Holy House in this year, and in every year, whose pilgrimages are accepted, and whose efforts are thanked, and whose sins are forgiven, and whose rituals are accepted from them, and whose journeys are with safety and well-being, and who are interested in performing their special prayers, those whose lives, wealth, sons and all their bounties are protected. O’ Allah, accept me in this place, in this month, on this day, in this hour, as prosperous, successful, accomplished, forgive my sins, secure me from fire, free me from it with such a freedom which has not entanglement after it ever, and no fear also, O’ Lord of the lords. O’ Allah, indeed I ask You to place among what You will, what You decide, what Your order, what You have destines and made definite and established, to extend my life, and to delay my death, and to strengthen my weakness, and to enrich my poverty, and to compensate my helplessness, and to have mercy upon my misfortune, and to dignify my disgrace, and to elevate my low level, and to grant wealth to my family, and to familiarize with me in my solitude, and to change my shortage with Your increment, and to deliver my sustenance with well-being and ease and abundance, and to suffice me in the important affairs of my world and my hereafter, and don’t forsake me towards myself so that  I stand incapable in front of them, and neither towards the people who will neglect me, and to provide me with well-being in my religion, my body, my figure, my soul, my sons, my family, my beloved ones, my brothers, and my neighbours from the faithful men and women, and the Muslim men and women, those alive among them and the dead ones, and to shower Your Grace upon me with peace and faith until You keep me alive, indeed You are my Guardian and my Master, and my Reliance and my Hope, the source of my requests and my complaints, and my final desire. Thus, do not make me hopeless O’ my Master and my Leader, do not discard my good-thoughts and my hopes, verily I have turned towards You by the means of Mohammad and his Holy Household, and I have placed them ahead of myself, and ahead of my demands and requests, and my humility and desires, thus make me reputed through them in this world and the Hereafter and place me among the near ones, indeed You have showered Your Grace upon me through their cognition, grant me my share of good fortune through them, indeed You have Power over all things.

The following words are additional in a few narrations:

مَنَنْتَ عَلَيَّ بِهِمْ ، فَاخْتِمْ لي بِالسَّعادَةِ وَالْأَمْنِ وَالسَّلامَةِ وَالْإيمانِ وَالْمَغْفِرَةِ وَالرِّضْوانِ وَالسَّعادَةِ وَالْحِفْظِ ، يا اَللَّهُ أَنْتَ لِكُلِّ حاجَةٍ لَنا فَصَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ، وَعافِنا وَلاتُسَلِّطْ عَلَيْنا أَحَداً مِنْ خَلْقِكَ لا طاقَةَ لَنا بِهِ ، وَاكْفِنا كُلَّ أَمْرٍ مِنْ اُمُورِ الدُّنْيا وَالْآخِرَةِ يا ذَا الْجَلالِ وَالْإِكْرامِ .

    صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَتَرَحَّمْ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَسَلِّمْ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، كَأَفْضَلِ ما صَلَّيْتَ وَبارَكْتَ وَتَرَحَّمْتَ وَسَلَّمْتَ وَتَحَنَّنْتَ عَلى إِبْراهيمَ وَآلِ إِبْراهيمَ ، إِنَّكَ حَميدٌ مَجيدٌ.

            You have bestowed Your Grace upon me through them, and end my affair with prosperity and peace and safety and faith and forgiveness and satisfaction and well-being and protection, O’ Allah, You are there for all our demands, bless Mohammad and his holy Progeny, and grant us well-being and do not let anyone from Your creation dominate us in such a way that we don’t have any power against him, and suffice me in all my affairs of this world and the Hereafter, O’ Glorious and Kind one, bless Mohammad and his holy Progeny, and have Mercy upon Mohammad and his holy household, and send peace upon Mohammad and his holy Posterity, with the best of Peace and blessings and mercy and greetings You have sent upon Ibrahim and the Progeny of Ibrahim, indeed You are the Praised and the Exalted. ^[4]
