 A magnificent miracle performed by Imam Hadi (p.b.u.h.)

Ibrahim ibne Baltoon quotes his father that, “I was one of Mutawakkil’s porter, one day he received fifty slaves as a gift from Khizr, he ordered me to receive them and treat them generously.

After a year of this incidence, one day I was in the court of Mutawakkil, suddenly Imam Hadi (p.b.u.h.) entered and seated on his place, Mutawakkil ordered me to bring those slaves in the court.

I acted upon his command, when they entered the court and caught sight of Imam Hadi (p.b.u.h.), all of them prostrated at once.

When Mutawakkil saw the incidence he went out of control with anger and slowly sneaked behind a curtain, then Imam stood up and went out of the court.

When Mutawakkil noticed that Imam had left the court, he revealed himself from behind the curtains and said, “Woe on you o Baltoon! What did these slaves have done?”

I replied, “I swear to God! I do not know.”

He asked, “Ask them about it?”

I asked those slaves about it, “What did you do in the court?”

They replied, “The person, who was present there, is accustomed to come and live with us for ten days every year and inform us about the Islam and he is the true successor of the Muslim’s holy Prophet (p.b.u.h.)”.

When Mutawakkil came to know about this incident, he sentenced all those slaves to death.

Moreover, I acted upon his orders and killed all of them.

On an evening, I visited Imam Hadi (p.b.u.h.) and his servant was standing by the door, he looked at me and after identifying me, said to me, “Go inside”.

I entered and saw Imam Hadi (p.b.u.h.) was seated; he glanced at me and said, “O Baltoon! What did they have done with those slaves?”

I replied, “O the Prophet of Allah’s son! I swear to God! They have killed each one of them.”

Imam asked, “They killed all of them”

I replied, “Yes, I swear to God!”

Imam asked, “أتحبّ أن تراهم? Would you like to see them?

I replied, “Yes, O the Prophet’s son!”

Imam Hadi (p.b.u.h.) gestured with his auspicious hand and said, “Enter behind the curtains!”

I entered and saw all those slaves were seated there and fruits were kept next to them which they eating.” (1)
